Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is the most advanced band (Band III and IV) at Athens Drive High School, with membership granted by audition only. Students must be enrolled in the course for the entire year and must be serious about music. The Symphonic Band performs a wide variety of literature, from relatively simple band standards to works programmed by college/university groups.

They are scheduled for third block.

In March, 2010, the Symphonic Band will be performing at the Music for All/Bands of America National Music Festival in Indianapolis. They are one of fourteen bands across the nation to be invited to perform at this prestigious festival. They are the first band to be invited from Wake County (they are the second ensemble, with the ADHS Percussion Ensemble performing in 2009). Only one other ensemble from North Carolina has performed at the National Music Festival.
