2004 Greensboro Christmas Parade and2004 Apex Christmas ParadeDecember 4, 2004It was a lovely day for parades! We boarded the buses at 8:45, and arrived in Greensboro to find it a bit warmer than we expected! We were on a bridge in the staging area, and had a snack before we began warming up. There was quite a variety of parade entries around us, and fortunately, the bagpipes that were staged near us wound up quite a bit further ahead of us in the parade! We rehearsed how to stop and turn towards the judges stand to play our piece. It was a nice, long walk through crowds and crowds of people who seemed enthusiastic about our music. Next stop was the Four Seasons mall for lunch at the food court. After a long ride to Apex, we stopped at the gas station and dressed. Then we stopped traffic as we crossed the road single file -- boy, it takes a long time to get 110 band members across the street! We warmed up, took one last check of the battery operated lights on the sousaphones and the clarinets, and marched our final parade. We saw lots of band parents in the crowd! Thanks for coming out and cheering us on! It was a lovely night to march through beautifully decorated downtown Apex to finish our marching season.
