Band Camp 2006

Day 4 - Wednesday

Wednesday was a very, very hot day. Most of the band was inside in the afternoon, but the intrepid percussion and guard was outside rehearsing (under the close supervision of an armada of parents dedicated to keeping them cool and hydrated). Later that evening was the rookie social; a lot of fun to close out a long day of work.

We made the front page of the Rocky Mount Telegram newspaper and their web page!

A hot day for a rehearsal.

The guard and battery rehearse in the afternoon heat.

A much needed break!

Stacking the cups is an efficient (and fun) way to dispose of them.

Mr. Gatorade!

Parents cool off the students.

Vito beats the heat.

Another break -- about every 15 minutes because of the heat.

Spraying the students with cool water is fun.

The refreshing Mister T.

Relaxing in the SAC just before dinner.

The heat took a lot out of the percussion girls.

While many of the students are tired, the afternoon's outdoor rehearsal has tired out the percussionists!

Note the expressions on the percussionists' faces as they are called to attention from their nap! (Love 'ya, drumline!)

It's not just the percussionists that are a bit tired.

Dinner at the SAC.

Mmmmm...pizza.

Push ups are a method of self-discipline.

First, drill is learned carrying drill folders.

Break time! Time to get the instruments to march and play.

Percussion rehearses separately.

The cake for the rookie social.
