Marching Band Camp - Day 4

Wednesday, August 3, 2005

By tradition on Wednesday, we honor our rookies. Each rookie was paired off with a veteran, and the veterans find creative ways to call attention to their rookie. We have several traditions that we like to keep as surprises for our rookies, so we won't divulge any more, nor will we post the pictures. It's lots of silliness that happens during stretching, meals and free time.

The silliness ends when it's time to rehearse, and all the groups took their respective positions at the rehearsal locations around campus. It was much warmer today, but still pretty bearable.  After lunch were sectionals, with much of the band ending the afternoon session with a rehearsal on the field for the parent/alumni night performance.

After dinner, the parents and alumni showed up in full force! Everyone enjoyed the performance, with many parents and band alumni noting the significant progress made by this excellent bunch of students.

The evening activities are another tradition of the band. We have a social with cake, music, and dancing, with several very enjoyable team building activities thrown in for fun.
