On April 29, 115 ADHS band students boarded three buses at 5:30am to travel to Atlanta, Georgia.  Here's the story of our trip, along with lots of pictures (pictures courtesy of Kathy Woodell, Mary Moyer, and della Martin). Most pictures have captions that are viewable when you hover over them with your mouse; to view a larger version of the picture, click on it. Thursday's Rehearsal

The rehearsal included a performance for the parents in the performance uniform.

The Ride to Atlanta

Each bus has a bus captain. The captains are responsible for taking roll, and encouraging the ban members' best behavior. The bus ride down was long, but with such an early start, we were able to sleep a bit, before watching such movie classics as Orange County, Independence Day, and The Incredibles. We stopped at rest stops in Charlotte and just after getting into Georgia to stretch our legs and get some snacks.

Stone Mountain Park

We arrived at our first destination at 1:30pm. Kristie, our tour guide, met us at the picnic shelter, where we had a terrific spread of hot dogs, hamburgers, cole slaw, potato salad, corn on the cob, and baked beans. After eating lunch, we went into the park. Most rode the tram to the top of the mountain, where you could see for miles. Many opted to take the tram back down, while others chose to walk the 1.4 miles.

Doc enjoyed the view from the very front of the tram, using the ride as a warm-up for the rides at Six Flags. We met back at the bus at 3:00pm, ready to go to our next destination.
