Overview

Twice a year, ADHS Band Boosters hold a barbecue sale.  Gene Simmons, an Athens Drive Band Booster alumnus, oversees the cooking of the chicken and pig - done in traditional North Carolina fashion and seasoned with his delectable family recipe sauces.  We sell plates consisting of either pork or chicken, rolls, slaw, potatoes and sweet tea.  The BBQ is available for carry out or dine in.  As a bonus, we also deliver a large number of plates to area businesses that place orders in advance. 

All proceeds go directly to the general band fund and therefore benefit all areas of the Athens Drive Band program.  No money goes into individual accounts.  So, all of you out there with altruistic tendencies - here is your chance to lend a hand!

The BBQ is held at the Swift Creek Community Center - 6221 Yates Mill Pond Rd., Raleigh, NC. 

Sales Information

You can help sell the barbecue by inviting your family, your friends, your neighbors, your coworkers, your friend's work, your younger kids' schools, your hair dresser, your church, your soccer team, your card club, your yard club etc..... You are the best advertisement!   Business lunch orders and deliveries are how we sell a large portion of the BBQ plates. Getting these orders remains one of the most important roles you can play in the success of the BBQ.   There is a six plate minimum order for delivery. Orders of less than six plates can be prepared and ready for pick up at any time.  Orders can also be placed by phone or email (see forms).
 

To help you with dispersing information about the BBQ, the following is available:
  1. An informational flyer: (choose Word or PDF format) for you to print and hand out.
  2. An order form (choose Word or PDF format) for taking orders.
  3. There will be printed flyers available in the band room about 3 weeks before the BBQ. 
  4. Attach the following to your email tag-line:

Volunteer Information

Look for email updates closer to the event.

There are many opportunities to help out with the Athens Drive Band BBQ.  All in all, we need to fill about 70 volunteer positions so there is plenty of work to go around!  Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve BBQ at the Swift Creek Community Center, drive orders to local offices and businesses, pass out BBQ lunches to teachers and students at school and to help with clean up at the school and Community Center.  We are excited to have the ability to use the online sign up tool for all the volunteer positions needed to carry out this great fund raiser.  You can sign up to help out at: http://www.adhsband.com/signups/SignupLogin.asp

We need donations of home-made desserts, pre-packaged in individual serving sizes,  to be dropped off either Thursday or Friday morning in the band room or at the Community Center on Friday morning.
